Reading list to escape from exam stress

Under normal circumstances, I'd be rummaging through my chemistry past paper booklet during these final moments before my exam, but unfortunately (or fortunately?) since giving an exam hasn't been in my kismet so far this year, why not write something!? Right? Yes absolutely.

Here is a carefully curated list of what you should read if you want to escape that exam stress:

THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY

author: Oscar Wilde

I do not think this book has made enough appearances on this blog. If it were up to me, I'd dedicate it entirely to my love for Oscar Wilde. Beautifully written, this book follows the journey of young and naive Dorian and his relationship with a painting made of him by his friend (; Basil.

Man is many things, but he is not rational.

SHATTER ME

author: Tahareh Mafi

Whenever I think of an entertaining no-brainer book, that has hot characters, and a good plot and humor in it, I think of the Shatter Me series. Easy to read, Aaron Warner's charms will hook you in from Book One and I guarantee even if organic chemistry has turned your brain to mush, this series will still be readable and enjoyable.

GONE GIRL

author: Gillian Flynn

Ok, maybe this book isn't a good idea amid exam season, for you'll want to leave everything else behind and read this to find out what happens. Although I am not a seasoned thriller reader, you don't have to be one to know that this is a good one. It'll have you on the edge of your seat the entire time!

EVERY SUMMER AFTER

author: Carley Fortune

With summer right around the corner, this is the perfect read. Full of romance, childhood friendships, and suspense, this light-hearted book is one of the few enjoyable romance books I have read. If you are into the idea of childhood friends-to-lovers, or just really love lakes, this is the book for you.

ELLA ENCHANTED

author: Gail Carson Levine

Honestly, sometimes all you need in life is a middle-grade book. I randomly stumbled upon this book and I am absolutely obsessed. I am in love with how pure children's books are. Short and sweet, Ella's journey is just what you need in life to distract you from academic stress.

It really took every ounce of self-control to not mention Percy Jackson in this list.
