Review:

The books had a perfect blend of plot and characters. It was full of emotions. Some scenes made me laugh, some made me cry.

All the characters had distinct personalities, and played an important part in the story. It wasn't just Percy who heroically saved the day, while other heroes just stood and watched.

I was really invested in every major and minor character, and what their end would be like, because that is how well written this book series is.

Some of my favorites were Tyson, Nico, Rachel, Thalia, and Clarisse.

One of the reasons why I enjoyed this series so much was because of Percy's point of view. As creepy as it may sound, I thoroughly enjoyed the way Percy's thought process worked. I doubt that I will enjoy the spin-off series(Heroes of the Olympus) as much because it is not from Percy's point of view (but I will still read it for the sake of being in the same world again, in the midst of the same people)

I loved how the Greek gods were portrayed. Apollo being my personal favorite.

I really enjoyed the humor in the books. Although the plot was dead serious, the humorous element made it 10x more fun. Would I have enjoyed this series as much as I did if there was no humor?.. No.

“With great power…comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later.” (The Last Olympian)

The book also discusses the important themes of friendship, loyalty, and family.

Friendship and loyalty: Friends who stuck together and fought together met a happy ending, but those who betrayed wished they hadn't. Percy would have never won his quests without the help of his friends.

Family: Firstly, people with family struggles, and those who feel miserable with their families, despite their being no as such problem with family life can relate. Annabeth for example. To a stranger, her family would've looked like a normal, happy family, but only Annabeth knew her struggle. Secondly, Kronos couldn't have been defeated without the help of Hades, who along with his children was treated like an outcast for a long time.

All in all, this series is definitely an all time favorite of mine. If you're into adventurous, humorous, or mythological books, this is the series for you!
